How Our Days Roll 2014

We are still Eclectic Homeschoolers meaning we learn from several different methods and use what works for us. For HH that still consists of a tiny bit Unschooling, some Charlotte Mason, a few workbooks, worksheets from the Internet, some actual book work from random textbooks, Lapbooks, using movies, shows, and documentaries, verbal learning, library books, and some hands on learning as well through Field Trips and Nature Study. None of this has really changed over the years because this method works well with his ADHD.

How much time we put towards "schoolwork" now, Hyper Heathen has a set amount of subjects each day. Once he finishes all his work he is finished and can do whatever else he wants for the day.

Here is an example of what our Weekly Schedule might look like right now:

Monday- Reading, Language Arts, Math, Geography, Social Studies, Science, Art History
Tuesday- Reading, Language Arts, Math, Geography, Social Studies, Science, PE
Wednesday- Reading, Language Arts, Math, Geography, Social Studies, Science, Music
Thursday- Reading, Language Arts, Math, Geography, Social Studies, Science, Foreign Language
Friday- Reading, Language Arts, Math, Geography, Social Studies, Science, Art History

I still use the
colored folder for each day idea I found on Pinterest and can't recommend it enough for children with ADHD (as well as parents with Adult ADD). It has saved my sanity and given him the structure he needed.

As far as "socializing" goes we're still doing pretty good there. Here are some of the great activities we enjoy:

Mondays- The 1st Monday of each month we go to the Trampoline Park with a Homeschool Group
Tuesdays- Plays at the Theatre on the UNM campus
Wednesdays- Time spent with older brother who comes over
Thursdays- Archery
Fridays- The 3rd Friday of each month we go to Trampoline Park with another group and he has Chess Club
Saturdays- Biweekly Lowe's Kids Workshops with his father

Other things we have that have no set usual day are various playdates with friends, visiting the local Museums as well as the BioPark, going on field trips with our homeschool group several times a month, he Skypes with a friend in Florida, and during the summer he took swim lessons five days a week plus he went to Art Camp for one week.

Honestly, I think homeschooled kids are more socialized than public school kids. I know I'm busier than I was when the older two we're in public school! Haha.
